Apply for a new Learner Permit

You may apply here for a Driving Licence or for an additional category to an existing Maltese driving licence.

  • You must be a resident of Malta for at least 185 days in the last calendar year;
  • Different ages apply to different categories;
  • A person cannot hold more than one driving licence at any one time;
  • No person may start any training on the road prior to being in possession of a Learner Permit.

You may access this section to check on the status of any pending application/s you may have. If the Motoring School has not yet accepted you as their student, you may access this section to change your Motoring School.

Check the status of your application and/or uploading of documents required and effect payment. If the Motoring School has not accepted you as their student, you may access this section to change your Motoring School.
• Driving Test
Check that your Motoring School has accepted that you use their vehicle for the driving test and effect payment.

Please note: We will never ask you to provide your password, credit card details, or other sensitive personal information via email, SMS, or unsolicited portal messages. Official government portals will always use a .gov.mt domain. If you receive a suspicious message, do not click on any links. Delete the message and report it through the appropriate official channels if necessary.
